Before it became this layered, gravel-pathed retreat, this was a genuinely expensive Jaquar wash basin, cracked and set aside after a botched installation. Here's exactly how it was rebuilt into a miniature Buddha zen garden over one relaxed weekend — plant list, materials, and steps included. Most mini zen gardens start with a brand-new container. This one started with the opposite: a basin nobody wanted, cracked along one side with a broken-out drainage hole.
